North House Privacy Policy

North House is operated by League of Innovators (“LOI”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit our website, apply for or hold a North House membership, use a North House location, attend an event or otherwise interact with us.

We collect, use and disclose personal information with consent where required and otherwise as permitted by applicable privacy laws.

What We Collect & Why

The information we collect depends on how you interact with North House.

Applications & Membership

If you apply to North House, we may collect information such as your name, contact information, age or eligibility information, LinkedIn profile, company or venture information, founder or team role, preferred location, referral information and application responses.

We use this information to review applications, assess membership eligibility and fit, manage admissions and waitlists, communicate with applicants and administer the application process.

If you become a Member or Authorized User, we may also collect information needed to establish and manage your membership, such as membership terms, workspace or desk allocation, team information, signed agreements, billing details, communications preferences, headshot, company logo and other information provided during onboarding or throughout the membership.

We may use information such as your name, company, headshot and company logo to create your North House member profile and support connections within the community.

Where a Member provides information about an Authorized User or team member, we use that information to set up and manage that person's North House access and may contact them directly where necessary.

Payments

We may collect information relating to membership fees, invoices, payments, deposits, refunds and other transactions.

Payment card or banking information may be processed directly by our payment or membership-management providers rather than stored by North House.

Using North House

When you use a North House location, we may collect information needed to operate the space and manage access, such as access-control records, workspace or meeting-room bookings and guest registrations.

Some North House locations may be subject to security cameras or other security measures operated by the building owner or manager.

Where North House receives security footage or related information in connection with a safety, security or incident matter, we use that information only for the relevant purpose and handle it in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Website & Events

When you use our website, we may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser or device information and information about how the website is used. We may use cookies or similar technologies to operate the website and understand its use.

If you register for or attend a North House event, we may collect information needed to manage your registration and attendance.

Photos or video may be taken at some events. Where consent is required for promotional use of your image or content, that consent will be handled separately from membership acceptance.

North House membership is intended for adults, but some North House events and programs may include participants under 18. When we collect personal information from a young person, we take their age, maturity, the nature of the information and the purpose for collecting it into account. Where parental or guardian consent is required, we will obtain it.

We may also use information across these activities to operate and improve North House, maintain safety and security, respond to questions or incidents, meet legal or financial requirements, and understand how our community and locations are being used.

Where appropriate, information used for broader analysis or impact reporting may be aggregated or de-identified.

Communications & Marketing

Some communications are necessary to administer an application or membership. These may include application updates, onboarding information, billing notices, access information, safety or security notices, policy updates and other operational communications.

Optional promotional or marketing communications are handled separately. Where consent is required, you can choose whether to receive these communications and can unsubscribe at any time.

Opting out of optional marketing will not affect your North House membership or the operational communications needed to provide it.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may share personal information with service providers that help us operate North House, such as providers supporting forms and databases, membership management, payments, email and communications, websites and analytics, file storage, IT services, access control, building security and events.

We provide service providers with information reasonably necessary to perform their services and expect them to protect it appropriately.

We may also disclose personal information where required or permitted by law, where reasonably necessary to address an emergency, safety or security concern, or with your consent for another identified purpose.

We do not provide identifiable applicant or Member information to partners, funders or other third parties for their own marketing purposes without appropriate consent.

Service Providers Outside Canada

Some service providers we use may process or store personal information outside Canada. In those cases, information may be subject to the laws and lawful-access requirements of the jurisdiction where it is processed or stored.

LOI remains responsible for personal information under its control and takes reasonable steps to ensure that service providers protect it appropriately.

Retention & Security

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, financial, contractual and operational requirements.

Different information may need to be retained for different periods. Application information, membership records, signed agreements, financial records, access information and security records may therefore have different retention periods.

When personal information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the information we hold and restrict access to personal information to those who reasonably need it for their work.

Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access the personal information we hold about you and request correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete.

Where our use of personal information is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent, subject to legal, contractual or operational restrictions. If withdrawing consent would affect our ability to provide a service, we will explain that consequence.

You may unsubscribe from optional marketing communications at any time.

We may need to verify your identity before responding to an access or correction request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as North House, our operations, technology or applicable requirements change.

When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. If a change materially affects how personal information is collected, used or disclosed, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent where appropriate.
